I`ll keep my Linen tablecloths..
I could not have woken up to a more beautiful day. Sunbeams all over my pillow, crisp air, with this always wonderful feeling Friday morning, it`s weekend ! Yes it is actually weekend, again.
This morning I read one of my favorite blogs, The Belgian Linen blog - by Didriks, that trend analysts predict that tablecloth in near future likely will disappear for good. That`s a bold statement ! Well, I could not disagree more, at least it will not dissapear if I got my way, that`s for sure. And ultimately, it is we who decide, and not those who predict and dictate the trends. Don`t you agree ?
The tablecloth has been a decorative element, part of table setting, developing for more than thousand of years. The history of table setting actually goes back before the medieval era. Around the 12th century the custom of using table linen was almost universal throughout France and Italy. Napkins have even been around since the middle ages when stylish people stopped wiping their mouths on the tablecloths and started providing individual linen squares for themselves and their sloppier guests. So No, I really do not think it will disappear anytime soon!

For my part I`ll be sure to keep the tablecloths alive by decorating a beautiful breakfast, lunch or a dinner table. Nothing is more beautiful to look at, a large rustic wooden table draped with a heavy linen cloth contrasted by white porcelain with spring flowers set in a large vase. Added to those who are looking forward to enjoy a delicious meal...
A very Happy weekend to you all !!
