My very first homegrown cucumbers !!

I am as proud as a peacock, this morning I harvested my very first homegrown cucumbers ! 3 mini Danito and 2 normal sized. Immediately I had to take a huge bite, it was very crunchy and very watery with a sweet flavor. Delish !  I am so pleased with my first attempt as I was a bit worried they would be difficult to grow, but it has been a willing plant. We planted only two plants, but they have a lot of yellow flowers, so it looks like we will be harvesting plenty in the following weeks. I am looking forward to making crispy barbecued salmon with cucumber yoghurt  or other delicious treats.

Our broad beans are doing well also. Actually it is a beautiful plant. I did not expect that at all, tall and lean with wonderful scented white and purple flowers. I will update as soon as I see a change. Have you harvested anything from your garden yet ?

Beautiful photos and beautiful crops...! Nothing beats a fresh summer cucumber. We always had a vegetable garden when I was a kid and I remember the cucumbers growing large and hiding underneath the big leaves and then suddenly you would find one, much bigger than it had been last week! What a lovely thing!

Smakelijk!!

Fijne week, Aina

nice cucumbers! Isn't it a little early for cucumbers though? On my parent's farm cucumbers are still tiny

Milissa :

I bought two plants back in early June, they were already quite large then. I planted them in our greenhouse, to be skeltered from wind and rain. If I had planted them outdoors, I'm sure they had grown more slowly. In addition, we have been lucky with many sunny days lately, and with regular watering they grow fast. So now we can harvest :)

Good luck with yours !

Hej Goingen!

visiter ton beau pays
A très bientôt - Apolline
