New find - antique French pottery bowl
Photo © Aina - Modern Country
Hi everyone, hope you had a good weekend !
Today I want to share a new find, I am so excited to tell you about it I can hardly contain myself. It is
probably one of my favorite finds ever!! I love rustic handmade pottery, and I was over the moon when I found this large antique French pottery bowl a couple of weeks ago. There are no cracks or repairs, just a tiny chip at the tip of the bowl. It doesn't have to be perfect, I like it when I can see it has been used and loved. The inside is glazed and the measurements are 12 x 36 cm, the color is typically from the region of Provence. And I was told that it dates from the late 1800`s. I have been looking for the perfect salad/baking/fruit bowl for a long time, but either the color was wrong or it was too expensive.
Normally I would pay more than 2000 NOK (approximately 270 Euro), but payed less than half. So I think it was a good bargain as well ! Used commonly in French farm homes, picture : A charming cottage home furnished with a mix of pieces that have been in the family for decades, light painted walls, wooden beams, a mix of antique homespuns, monogrammed Linens, large kitchen table... Well, I just swoon every time I look at it :)
I also love these 100% Linen fabric Sardinia kitchen towels from Libeco Home. They come in two colors, Olive and Terracotta. I think both looks gorgeous and could not choose either one of them. They would fit well with my new bowl, don`t you think ?
At last, I want to thank all you lovely people for stopping by, and also for leaving me such wonderful comments. I smile when I read them, your positive feedback is of enormous value. You are so special to me for so many reasons. I will soon arrange a give- away as a little appreciation. I think you will like it.
Have a Good start to the week !

The bowl and the towels are so so lovely! The towels make me think of your beautiful needlework - have you had a chance to work on any projects this summer?
A beautiful pottery bowl...what an earthy delight! I can simply imagine the use over the years! The towels ARE the perfect match also.
Hi Vicki,
Thank you so much for your lovely comment !
Summer is so short here in the North so we are trying to exploit the summer season as long as possible. We are more outdoors than indoors and are often in the garden or near by the beach, or travelling and exploring. So unfortunately there has not been so much embroidering. But I have ideas I'm working on that will be completed this fall. Do you embroider yourself?

For noen nydelige håndklær :) Og skålen likeså.
Har du startet produksjonen igjen.
Jeg fant en flott butikk i Berlin som selger linstoff i alle kvaliteter.
Ha en fortsatt fin helg :)

Your blog is such a treat... Iim never sure what I'll find and never disappointed.
I love those tea towels Aina. They are really pretty. Having nice tea towels is great because you always get nice comments from guests about them.
How lovely! My sister has many items like this in her Georgian farmhouse in rural Yorkshire. I too love the feeling that hundreds of ordinary family meals have been prepared in it. If “things” could talk, what tales this could tell!
